How Are Your New Year Intentions Going?
A Gentle February Check-in
January is a month that often arrives with a sense of bright possibility: fresh notebooks, new rituals, and the soft hope that this year, we’ll treat ourselves with a little more tenderness. It also feels like one of the longest mumps of the year!
But as we step into February, something shifts. The glow of the new year settles, routines resume, and the intentions we so lovingly set mere weeks ago can begin to feel very distant.
If you’re feeling that, you’re not alone!
At Holistic Silk, we believe that wellbeing is not built on perfection (to be honest we’re not even sure if perfection actually exists!)— it’s shaped by routines and consistency, by tiny adjustments made with love for ourselves alongside a desire to feel more at peace with ourselves. So as February begins, we invite you to join us in a gentle check-in.
Pause. Breathe. How Do You Feel?
Often, our intentions stall not because we’re unmotivated, but because we don’t give ourselves time to listen and admit to the effect they are having. So before you revisit those intentions that seem to have been made so very long ago, take a moment to notice how your body and mind are truly feeling.
Are you energised?
A little frazzled?
Somewhere in between?
Now ask yourself, have the intentions you set impacted on those feelings? Give time to this question because it is important. Take a pause, a slow breath, a quiet moment with a mug of tea. Do whatever helps you create enough space to honestly answer those questions. Clarity begins with honesty.

Intentions are Invitations not Rigid Resolutions
Resolutions tend to be rigid: I will, I must, I should, I have to. Intentions are gentler, they are reminders that guide us. They are not in charge!
So if your self envisioned January full of early nights, journaling, exercise, a better diet and softer (or harsher) words hasn’t panned out as you expected and February is making you feel a little off track — that’s okay. Because intentions don’t expire on February 1st. They simply ask to be picked back up, re-shaped, lovingly simplified or recognised as being not quite the move you need to make at this time.
February – The Month of Gentle Progress
So if January for you, as it was for us, was about ambition, let February be about nourishment and journeying forwards.
Wellbeing doesn’t need grand gestures at the beginning of every year, quickly followed by the guilt that usually follows when we don’t quickly succeed. It needs small, consistent moments of care, strung together like beads on silk thread. It needs honest reflection and acceptance of the positives as well as the negatives. And every moment you pause, breathe, and return to yourself — that counts.
So, how are your New Year intentions going? Beautifully, imperfectly, and exactly as they should!
