Starting with the New Moon phase which marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, this is when the moon appears completely dark, ready to emerge into the light. Symbolizing new beginnings, we use this time to embrace the new moon's energy and create a sense of purpose. We take time to meditate, journal and engage in activities that help us connect with our desires and aspirations; setting new intentions, visualising our goals and embarking on new projects and endeavours.
As the moon starts to emerge from darkness, it enters the Waxing Crescent phase. Characterized by increasing illumination and growing energy it is a time for learning, acquiring new skills and nurturing personal growth. This is the time we find best to focus on the intentions set earlier.
Appearing as a Half-Moon when it enters its first quarter, this is the time when we make our most important decisions, harnessing the moons energy to help us tackle difficult tasks and embrace the spirit of progress.
Moving through to the Waxing Gibbous phase, as the moon continues to grow in brightness it brings with it a time to fine-tune things. This is when we pay extra attention to detail, analyse progress both personally and professionally, making improvements and refining strategies as we go.
As we enter the Full Moon phase, the most well-known, complete illumination is reached. Commonly this is thought to be the optimal time for celebrations, completing tasks and reaping the rewards of our efforts. Embracing this time of abundance and heightened energy we practice self-reflection which, alongside spending more time immersed in nature, helps us to release the negativity that hinders growth. We celebrate achievements and most importantly express gratitude to nature and those around us.
As the full moon fades, the Waning Gibbous phase begins. A time of reflection and introspection, , this is the time we find best for evaluation and prioritizing rest. It is our opportunity to learn from experiences, engage in self-reflection and increase our self-care routines, increasing the time we spend focusing on meditating and recharging to create space for new endeavours.
The third, or last quarter finds the moon back in a half-illuminated state. Much like in the Waning Gibbous phase it is an ideal time for inward thinking and redirection. We use the transformative energy of this phase to embed these introspective thoughts and reflections from the last phase, ready to prepare for new beginnings to come.
Nearing the end of its cycle, the moon enters the Waning Crescent phase. (A time that) symbolizing surrender, release and rest. This is when relaxation, self-care and rejuvenation are most important. It is a time for meditation, to recharge and to prepare for the changes the New Moon will bring.
The influence of the moon's phases on our lives is of course a personal interpretation, but many people find guidance and great comfort from the lunar cycle, understanding that the energy associated with each phase, can enhance personal growth and create a harmonious connection with the cycles of nature.
