Tell us…
Q. What can’t you start your day without?
A. A glass of hot water with a slice of turmeric, a squeeze of lemon, a twist of pepper, a capful of cider vinegar with ‘the mother’ and a teaspoon of honey!
Q. Breakfast is?
A. Scrambled eggs on rye and caraway toast with avocado.
Q. What beauty product can you not live without?
A. My AMLY Digital Detox silver rich facial mist - a detoxifying, mineral rich all rounder for the skin which smells divine. I keep it on my desk and spray throughout the day, especially if I am in need of an energy boost.
Q. What gets you going for the day? (exercise / wellbeing routine)
A. A good walk. Either walking the children to school, or taking our dog Bramble for a walk. My husband and I take turns.
Q. Where you are most inspired?
A. In the garden shed! Which has now been converted into my studio. Surrounded by all my paints, blocks, scrapbooks and tear sheets this is where most of my new designs begin. However I am also extremely inspired by Jaipur on my twice annual visits to my printers there. The colours throughout the city are mesmerising.
Q. What cause are you currently championing?
A. Anything cancer research related having recently been through six operations, chemo and losing my hair after finding I had breast cancer.
Q. Where is your happy place?
A. By the fire playing a board game with my family or with the extended family on the Isle of Mull, Scotland where we spent our childhood Summer holidays.
Q. How do you relax and switch off?
A. At my printing table. I love the therapeutic rhythm of the repeat printing of a block. I almost go into a trance like mode as I print a length of fabric!
Q. Book or Boxset – what are you reading/watching?
A. Barely ever watch TV, although I have a long list of things I would like to see. I am reading my pile of books and magazines on design, interiors and Indian textiles. I am a sucker for an illustrated coffee table book. Just finished Maiden Voyages - Writings of Women Travellers edited by Mary Morris
Q. Your bedtime routine?
A. Mineral salts in a hot bath, cup of Pukka Nightime tea and into bed with my book. I love it when my husband and I sit and read into the night together - sounds a bit ‘old couple’ but there is something really peaceful about it to me (Another Happy Place!)
